Spintax Variation
Each time spintax renders, blocks resolve to one choice. `{Hi|Hello}` × `{friends|all}` yields four possible openings. Nested blocks multiply combinations.
Example template
{Hi|Hey} {there|everyone}. {Check out|See} our {sale|promo}.
Variation 1: “Hi there. Check out our sale.” Variation 2: “Hey everyone. See our promo.”
Why marketers care
Variation count is the difference between looking like a broadcaster and looking like a neighbor. Enough distinct outputs reduce duplicate content flag risk and admin spam reports. Thin templates show up fast when admins compare your posts side by side in related groups. Admins talk. Variation quality matters as much as variation count. Two templates that swap “Hi” and “Hello” but share the same pitch still look coordinated. Aim for meaningfully different paragraphs, not cosmetic swaps.
Common mistakes
- Assuming two options in one block equals enough variation for 30 groups
- Not previewing five random outputs before publish
- Blocks that clash grammatically when combined
- Regenerating the same variation twice because the template is too thin
- Publishing when combination math is lower than half your target group count
Example in practice
A coach promotes a workshop with a template containing four opening blocks, three value hooks, and two CTAs. Math yields 24 combinations before body edits. MaherPost preview shows five random outputs; one reads awkwardly, so they add a connector phrase block. Final campaign hits 18 groups with 18 readable distinct posts. Delivery log shows zero duplicate-content admin flags. They screenshot preview outputs for the VA so future campaigns keep the same quality bar.
In MaherPost
Campaign composer previews random spintax variation samples before you publish. The generator tool counts theoretical combinations from your template. On publish, MaherPost assigns one variation per group in the selected group bundle. AI rewrite can expand plain paragraphs into new blocks. Standard $37/mo workflow. If preview outputs read awkward, add blocks instead of publishing anyway. Combination count on paper means nothing if real outputs sound robotic.
