Graph API
The Graph API lets approved apps read and write Facebook objects with OAuth tokens. Marketing tools used publish_to_groups to schedule member group posts until Meta revoked that path.
Still works for
Facebook Pages (with permissions), ads, business integrations, Instagram where supported.
Does not work for
Typical joined group bulk posting in 2026 via Buffer/Hootsuite-style cloud schedulers.
Why marketers care
Buying the wrong tool because it says “Graph API” wastes budget and time. If your strategy is member groups, you need architecture built after the permission removal, not 2019 marketing copy. Ask vendors which OAuth scopes they use. Silence is an answer. If they cannot explain publish_to_groups removal, they cannot explain your 2026 group strategy.
Common mistakes
- Assuming Hootsuite group features still reach joined member groups
- Trusting vendors who list “official API” without naming scopes
- Confusing Page publishing with group member publishing
- Ignoring migration guides after April 2024 policy changes
- Paying for “enterprise API access” that still only posts to Pages
Example in practice
An agency still runs 2023 playbooks: Buffer queue for “Facebook groups.” New posts never appear in member communities. Their Page posts work fine. They audit permissions, learn publish to groups is gone, and migrate clients to MaherPost with spintax, delays, and browser session posting. Campaign volume drops initially but delivery logs show real group visibility again. The agency updates sales decks so prospects stop asking for “API group posting” that no longer exists.
In MaherPost
MaherPost does not rely on revoked group publish scopes. The product uses chrome extension poster architecture and browser session posting for joined groups. Page-only teams still benefit from Lead Radar and reporting, but group bulk posting is the core use case at $37/mo. Honest positioning beats fake API claims. Your clients deserve tools that match how Facebook actually works today. MaherPost sales pages say browser session plainly so buyers know what they are getting.
