Quick answer
Why does MaherPost use a Chrome extension?
Meta removed group publishing from the Graph API in April 2024, so API-based tools like Buffer, Hootsuite and Later cannot post to groups you have joined. MaherPost uses a Chrome extension that posts from your own logged-in browser session. You never give MaherPost your Facebook password, and Chrome must be open while a campaign runs.
How it works
Chrome extension, step by step.
- 01
Install the extension
Add MaherPost to Chrome and sign in to your MaherPost account.
- 02
Stay logged in to Facebook
The extension uses your existing Facebook session. You do not enter your Facebook password into MaherPost.
- 03
Load your groups
The extension reads the groups your profile has joined so you can build bundles.
- 04
Keep Chrome open
Campaigns run in your browser, so leave Chrome open while one is going.
What you get
Everything in the box.
All of this is part of the standard $29 plan, with no add-ons.
No Facebook password
MaherPost never asks for your Facebook login. It works inside the session you already have.
No Graph API
Group posting does not depend on an API Meta has switched off.
Joined groups only
It posts where your profile is a member, the same groups you could post to by hand.
Lead Radar in the feed
The extension also reads your groups feed for Lead Radar matches.
Dashboard control
Campaigns, bundles, schedules and reports are managed from the MaherPost dashboard.
Fair on Pages
Buffer, Hootsuite and Later are good at Pages and Instagram. MaherPost is built for groups.
In practice
How people actually use it.

Chrome extension questions
Something else? Email support@maherpost.com and a person replies within one business day.
Does MaherPost need my Facebook password?
No. The Chrome extension works inside your own logged-in Facebook session. You never enter your Facebook password into MaherPost.
Why can Buffer and Hootsuite not post to Facebook groups?
Meta removed group publishing from the Graph API in April 2024. Tools built on that API, including Buffer, Hootsuite and Later, cannot post to groups you have joined, though they are still good for Pages and Instagram.
Does Chrome have to stay open while posting?
Yes. MaherPost posts through the extension in your browser, so Chrome must be open while a campaign runs.
Does MaherPost use the Facebook Graph API?
No. It posts through a Chrome extension in your own browser session, not through the Graph API.
Is MaherPost affiliated with Meta?
No. MaherPost is independent and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Meta.
Can the Chrome extension post to groups I have not joined?
No. The extension posts as your profile, so it can only reach groups where you are already a member. It does not join groups for you.
